You need to install development files for libpng. On Debian they are
provided by the package libpng12-dev:
boris@pippin:~$ dpkg -S /usr/include/png.h
libpng12-dev: /usr/include/png.h
I did not have this package on my raspberry pie machine (I do not
commit for the binaries for armelhf-linux, but compile them just in
case), and got the same message. After I've installed the package
libpng12-dev, the build went smoothly
