project I was coordinating which, fortunately, is over. I would
gladly try to build a powerpc-linux version. Can you remind me the
procedure or send a link to a description?

Dear Builders, There have been some recent changes connected to the development in TeX Live 2015 and a few more bugfixes in LuaTeX 0.80.0. If you have time, please consider running a rebuild (if you Richard have the Snow Leopard at hand, I would be grateful for a Mac rebuild as well, else I can run it a few days later).
