Hi, I guess most of you are on dev-context as well, but in any case: Please, if you have moment to spare, have a good look at the TLContrib website and associated repository: http://tlcontrib.metatex.org/ The system should now be ready for the initial kickoff (I hope). The new repository already contains context 2010.07.30, luatex 0.63.0, metapost 1.502. However, many of the binary packages for luatex and metapost are still missing, even though they already exist in the context minimals. It would be nice to fill in at least the most obvious architectures (win32/macosx) before announcing tlcontrib on a larger scale. The unix luatex packages should contain the following: luatex texlua -> luatex symlink texluac -> luatex symlink dviluatex -> luatex symlink The unix metapost packages should contain: mpost dvitomp -> mpost symlink mfplain -> mpost symlink (win32 is a special case, all others use the same file structure) Missing to this date are the following: luatex.alpha-linux luatex.amd64-freebsd luatex.amd64-kfreebsd luatex.i386-cygwin luatex.i386-freebsd luatex.i386-kfreebsd luatex.i386-netbsd luatex.i386-solaris luatex.mips-irix luatex.powerpc-aix luatex.powerpc-linux luatex.sparc-linux luatex.sparc-solaris luatex.universal-darwin luatex.win32 luatex.x86_64-solaris metapost.alpha-linux metapost.amd64-freebsd metapost.amd64-kfreebsd metapost.i386-cygwin metapost.i386-freebsd metapost.i386-kfreebsd metapost.i386-netbsd metapost.i386-solaris metapost.mips-irix metapost.powerpc-aix metapost.powerpc-linux metapost.sparc-linux metapost.sparc-solaris metapost.universal-darwin metapost.win32 metapost.x86_64-darwin metapost.x86_64-solaris It would be really cool if the context minimals builders would go to the trouble of registering at tlcontrib.metatex.org and publishing the packages that match the binaries they take care of in the minimals. Best wishes, Taco
Hi, A closely related question for Mojca: For these binaries, do you want to keep minimals as the leading repository with tlcontrib being filled from the minimals, or would you prefer to do the reverse and take the packages from tlcontrib into minimals? Best wishes, Taco

Taco, - I could easily upload luatex for all the architectures that we have in minimals without bothering each binary builder to do the same (I just didn't do it so far) - But then: I would prefer to discuss over Skype about the best method that would not require any human interaction (apart from running a simple script; either manually or as a cron job) to get luatex into both tlcontrib and minimals at the same time. Mojca PS: Some platforms are missing, but I wouldn't bother; MacTeX supports Mac OS X 10.3, minimals don't, but I wouldn't bother either. For Mac I need to change the binaries a bit (luatex in minimals is very-fat: ppc, intel, intel-64, while the one in MacTeX is only ppc and intel), but it's not really needed either; the binaries may stay a tiny bit "fatter".

Great, can you so at least for the most obvious current platforms then? I can also do it myself, but because of the close link to minimals I thought it would be better if I didn't (and besides, it is not the best of ideas for me to 'own' a great many packages).

Yes, I know we should work something out. However, in order to get a broader audience (and therefore testers and helpers), I think it should now be the first priority to get tlcontrib far enough ready that it can be announced on c.t.t. and tex-live. And that means that the most common architectures should be covered asap. I do not care too much about e.g. kfreebsd and alpha-linux at this point, but definitely win32 should be in, and whatever is the most normal binary set on darwin. Best wishes, Taco

Taco, Mojca, I build the i386-kfreebsd and amd64-kfreebsd binaries. Please let me know what (automated) proceedure you decide to put into place so that I can provide these binaries. The current preliminary (but fully functional) procedure is as follows: * create a local tar.gz file with the binaries (per the list I posted an hour ago). Make sure the tar.gz contains no directory structure at all, just a flat file list. * register as a user at http://tlcontrib.metatex.org/ * log in, and go to 'user menu' * Click on 'New package' * in the wizard screen, select 'luatex.i386-kfreebsd' (for example) * in the second screen, make sure you update these fields: "License" (Free, GNU General Public License) "Release State" (published) "Version" (0.63.0) "File upload" (add the local tar.gz you created earlier) * submit, verify, submit. * then repeat for any other platforms/binaries. Best wishes, Taco
