Hi, I have just uploaded the archives for a new luatex release, 0.61.0, the first of the betas toward 0.70.0. New features: * New lua library 'epdf' for introspection of PDF inclusions, see the manual for details. * Mplib version 1.502 is now included (which is still beta, so be careful). * new "finish_pdffile" and "pre_dump" callbacks. * new function pdf.pageref() * In the lua 'tex' library: assignment to internal glue parameters is now allowed. * New lua function tex.error(). Bugfixes: * Fix for crashes on fonts with bad Panose values. * Fix for a box placement bug that could sometimes cause text to overlap. * Fix for a few small PDF/A1-a compatibility bugs. * Fix \letterspacefont. * Fix \Ustopdisplaymath in combination with aligned displays. * In math delimiters, the last of a chain of predefined sizes was always ignored if there were also extensible parts. I am happy to announce a new beta release of MetaPost: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MetaPost 1.502 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The standalone distribution package and a win32 binary can be downloaded immediately from http://foundry.supelec.fr/gf/project/metapost/ This is a beta release following the major internal rewrite done for 1.500. After quite a lot of community feedback on the previous two releases (a big thank you! goes to the testers) most of the bugs should be gone now, but just in case: please be careful and check the output of this metapost version when it is used in production work. The win32 binary is intended for texlive or a similar web2c-based installation, this executable will *not* work for miktex. Of course, we welcome any comments (either good or bad) that you may have. There are only two remaining overflow errors(1): "expansion depth" : this is a guard against infinite recursion, the value is 10000. "sizes per font" : this is maxed out for data-structure reasons, the value is 32767. from texmf.cnf, now only the "error_line", "half_error_line" and "print_line settings" are used. (1) but now you can reach the operating system limits, of course. * As this is an alpha release containing lots and lots of new code, MetaPost starts up with the internal equivalent of 'loggingall;' in effect. Hi, I have just uploaded the archives for a new luatex release, 0.60.2, a bugfix release for the 0.60 branch. Bugfixes: * Various small portability fixes, especially for non-gcc compilers. * Updated synctex from Jerome Laurens. * fix bug #406: \pdfliteral hinders hyphenation. * fix pdf overprinting bug (related to \pdfliteral). * patch from Akira Kakuto that ensures that only absolute commands that are inside the %PATH% will be executed in win32's restricted \write18 * fix a buffer overflow in luafontloader. * fix cross-platform share-ability of generated formats. * fix a few typos in the manual. * fix trashing of the null glue spec by attribute reference code. * documented the deprecated state and brokenness of otp processing. Checksum of original font files stored in the cache?

Dear wise guys, the other day I found myself caught in a trap that might be a frequent source of puzzlement for the casual ConTeXt user :-) I had replaced an OpenType font in the usual OS directory by a new version. Typesetting documents using that font produced surprising results... the PDF files were merrily messed up. I reckon I didn't pay attention to the interplay between font files and the LuaTeX cache... apparently ConTeXt was using the outdated font cache data together with the new font file since a few days later the problem was resolved once I had to regenerate the cache for other reasons. Only then did I notice I had also cured this font problem. Do you think it would be a good idea to store a checksum of the actual font file used while generating the cache? Best, Oliver

Hi Hans, what’s the for status the usage of the new structure code commands in mkiv? header have now the internal commands \definestrcuturehead and \setupstructurehead with \definehead and \setuphead as synonyms, should the former internal names ever be mentioned in the doku or lets pretend they do no exist (what i prefer) and mention only \define/\setuphead? a bigger problem seems to me the \definestructure(separatorset|prefixset|...) commands, the names are too long and it's weird to have commands with 'definestrcuture' in their name but no matching command with 'strcuture' in the name which use these settings.
