footnote disappeared when used in background text

Hello, I found that \footnote cannot work correctly as I expected. Here is my source file: %-------------------------------------------------------------------------- %\loadmapfile[gbk] %\usemodule[chinese] \setuppagenumbering[location=inright] \setupbodyfont[lbr,12pt] \setupindenting[big,yes] \setupcolors[state=start] \setupbackground[state=start,background=screen,cornor=round] \setupinterlinespace[line=20pt] \starttext \startbackground some words \footnote{ some words some words some words some words some words some words some words some words some words} \stopbackground \stoptex %-------------------------------------------------------------------------- This file can compile successfully and produce a pdf file, but if you try to compile this file on your system you will find that the footnote disappeared. Is conTeXt good for book writing?

Hi all, I'm completely new to conTeXt though I've heard enough good thing about it. Now I have a chance to write a book. I'm wondering is it more effective to write in conTeXt than LaTeX given I'm new to both. Can you point out some help document that can start me off? float over both text and margin

Hi. 1) I am unsuccessfully solving the problem of making float spanning both text and margin. More over, it is inside columnset... Example follows. problem with font variants in setupTABLE

Hi wizards! In my typescript I define a condensed variant: \definefontvariant [Serif] [cond] [Cond] That works fine if I call \Var[cond] where I need it. But if I try to setup a TABLE column like this: \setupTABLE[c][3][width=10em, distance=2em, style={\Var[cond]}] I get: ! Incomplete \iffalse; all text was ignored after line 136. <inserted text> \fi <*> &cont-en test.tex What's wrong? \setupinteraction[state=start,focus=...]

modes in newtexexec

Hello. Doing texmfstart texexec now appears to call newtexexec. However, newtexexec does not seem to handle --mode at all. Is it coming? Should I set it up so I can call texexec directly in order to use modes? Thank you very much. I replaced \usetypescriptfile[type-buy] with \usetypescript [adobekb][\defaultencoding] which finally worked. Installing cont-fnt as Hans suggested didn't have any influence at all. However, now some really strange bug(?) appeared. \type{\whatevercommand} doesn't work inside \starttabulate ... \stoptabulate. This is only true for MikTeX, everywhere else it works OK. \starttabulate and \type{\whatevercommand} both work when they are used separately, but fail when \type comes inside \starttabulate. It may be that MikTeX is a bit "old" (27.10.), but there is no newer version available yet, so I hope that the problem will go away with the next version. Mojca !
