selecting big bodyfont results in wrong size

Hi all, Some strange thing with fontsize is happening. In my typescript file is: \starttypescript[Chaparral] \definetypeface [Chaparral][rm][serif][chaparral][dtp][encoding=uc] ... because I want to use the 'dtp sizes' (and I'm using XeTex). For a bodyfont of 12pt is defined in type-siz.tex: \definebodyfontenvironment [12pt] [\s!text=12pt,\s!script=9pt,\s!scriptscript=7pt, \c!x=10pt,\c!xx=8pt,\c!big=14pt,\c!small=10pt] So one would expect that switching to a big bodyfont will result in a fontsize of 14pt. But when I typeset the next file: \usetypescriptfile[type-adobe] \usetypescript[Chaparral] \setupbodyfont[Chaparral,12pt] \starttext Normal size is correct: \the\bodyfontsize. \switchtobodyfont[big] Big size should be 14pt, but is: \the\bodyfontsize. \stoptext I see that the big bodyfontsize is 14.4pt. (I attached the resulting pdf.) How do I fix this? Thanks and with regards, Alex Lubberts

For the benefit of the list, a short summary of the question is this: \setupinterlinespace[stretch=1.5] \definewhitespacemethod [bigger] {\ctxparskip10pt plus3pt minus3pt} \setupwhitespace[bigger] creates lots of flexibility in the interline and interparagraph space, so you can do something like this: \definestartstop[kleiner] [before={\startcolumns[n=2] \setupinterlinespace[stretch=1.5] \setupwhitespace [bigger]}, after={\stopcolumns }] and that works like a charm in equalizing out the bottom lines of the columns, for the running text. But with such a definition somewhere, this still does not work: \starttext \startkleiner \placeregister[index] \stopkleiner \stoptext Does anybody know and approach to do that? Best, Taco

ConTeXt update deletes user files?

Hello, after updating to the latest ConTeXt release (via i-Installer on my Mac) all my custom files are gone! I put them in .../texmf.local/tex/ context/user/ and now there is emptiness :-( The installer shouldn't touch those files, right? Is there a way to recover them? I'm a newbie to ConTeXt so it took me ages to collect all the info necessary to assemble a little module that provides theorem-like environments ... and I need this so bad! Oliver

small smaller and vertical stretch

Hi, using "small" and "medium" rather than "8pt" or "10pt" gives some vertical "stretch". Very useful in some situations: \setupinterlinespace[small] \setupwhitespace[medium] But what to do if "small" is still too big? And yet the "stretch" is needed? While I can say ... \blank[.75*medium] ... this operation is not allowed for the two above. So, what to do? Steffen

strange behaviour of \definedfont['Some Name'] in XeTeX

Hello, I'm probaby misusing the feature (most robably because I just didn't take time to study how to do it properly), but it behaves really strange. In XeTeX I first did \font\f='Some Name' \f which worked OK. But when I tried the same with \definedfont['Some Name'] it resulted in strange behaviour. For some fonts, metapost has been invoked and complained, but the resulting document had the proper font plus "scaled 1000" written on the first page where the font has been selected. For other fonts it failed completely. What's actually the most clean way of including an "uc-encoded" font at a specific font size, but without the need of bold or any other "typefaces" (just for a title for example)? (Which basically means: I only want the same behaviour as the plain TeX expression above + uc encoding.) Thanks, Mojca

texmfstart problem (long time spend somewhere)

Hello, For near two years I use ConTeXt under the MiTeX distribution. Last weekend I installed the last version of ConTeXt (2006-07-21) available on MikTeX. Since this installation, the program texmfstart don't work correctly. After the command : "texmfstart texexec first.tex" nothing happen for a long time before texexec is actualy executed. After the command : "texmfstart --verbose texexec first.tex", I can see : texmfstart version 2.0.0 expanding 'texexec' to 'texexec.rb' locating 'texexec.rb' in current path '.' locating 'texexec.rb' in caller path 'C:/documents/proxima/tmp' <LONG TIME (about 1 min)> kpse : direct (forced) using 'kpsewhich' to locate 'texexec' in suffix space 'rb' (1) registering 'texexec' as 'C:/texmf/scripts/context/ruby/texexec.rb' registering 'THREAD' as 'C:/texmf/scripts/context/ruby' starting texexec using 'system' call: ruby C:/texmf/scripts/context/ruby/texexec.rb first.tex TeXExec | processing document 'first.tex' <ETC> If I execute "texmfstart.rb" instead of "texmfstart.exe" the behaviour is the same but I see that the time is spent in the "KpseRemote::start_client" method. I have installed on the same computer a stand-alone version of ConTexT and the behaviour is the same. The have installed a new version of ruby (version 1.8.4) and the behaviour is the same.
