Hi, I was converting some of my old docs from LaTeX to ConTeXt and noticed that the macro \@ is not defined in ConTeXt. latex.ltx defines it as \def\@{\spacefactor\@m} with \mathchardef\@m=1000 In LaTeX manuals it is recommended to use \@ to control the spacing after a period. For example, if you write Carrots are good for your eyes since they contain Vitamin A. Have you seen any rabbits wearing glasses? TeX considers the period (.) terminates an abbreviation and uses inter-word space rather than inter-sentence space. In LaTeX, it is recommened that one writes this as Carrots are good for your eyes since they contain Vitamin A\@. Have you seen any rabbits wearing glasses? What is the usual way of doing the same in ConTeXt? Aditya

\useURL query

I am having a problem introducing discretionary hyphens into URLs using the latest ConTeXT and \useURL. For example, [DigRes] [{http://www.arthist.net/Link\-ERes.html}] [] [{http://www.arthist.net/LinkERes.html}] does break the URL on the printed page as I need, but the link to the target document is broken. (I get a The requested URL /Link-ERes.html was not found on this server message.) Any tips about what I am doing wrong will be much appreciated. Alan

Footnote in columns interlinespace

Good noon. I typeset a document in two columns on the grid. Footnotes I place in the "columns". \setupfootnotes [rule=off, way=bypage, location=columns, conversion=set 3, before={\blank[line]}] \setupfootnotedefinition [location=left,width=fit, sample={\mathematics{\star\star\star}\ },hang=1] How can I set interlinespace to a smaller distance? (I don't care that the footnote lines would not be on the grid---I prefer it to a very loose interlinespace.) I guess that there is better way than to write \footnote{\setupinterlinespace[line=9pt] ...\par} Moreover, it doesn't work well since on the first line is apparently inserted a strut. Typescript for Linotype NimbusSanL-BoldCond

Has anyone put together a typescript for some or all of the Nimbus family? I have the font referenced above and ran it through texfont. It is specified by a customer's designer for a book I am working on. how to do something like ^1/_2 with frac?

Hi all again, I try to do something like 1/2 with an upper 1 and a lower 2. The code below still doesn't quite work. \def\nfrac#1#2{\leavevmode\kern.1em% \raise.5ex\hbox{\scriptsize #1}% \kern-.1em/\kern-.15em% \lower.25ex\hbox{\scriptsize #2}} Help would be very much appreciated! Texfont generated map files.

single spaced list items within a double spaced document

To whom it may concern, I need to have multiline entries in lists (e.g., Tables of Contents, Lists of Figures etc.) that are single spaced within a document that is double spaced. I have tried using \setupinterlinespacing commands as arguments to the attributes textstyle or textcommand of \setuplist. This does not work, probably for obvious reasons. So, I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem, or knows of a simple solution. Thank you in advance. Andrew

ConTeXt textext fails

I did the update to ConTeXt 2006-01-18 but almost regret that decision as an old problem seems to surface again. Typesetting a file that has not failed me with an august2006 version now crashes. Relevant data from the processing log (using TeXShop): systems : begin file syllabus-s-mpgraph-temp at line 42 .... ! Undefined control sequence. l.53 \tts 66\%\CCC :4:126% So what is going on here? File syllabus-s-mpgraph-temp shows at the offending site: \starttext ..... \startMPXpage \tts 66\%\CCC:4:126% \stopMPXpage And this code must have been come from a metapost source: \startuseMPgraphic{taalengels}{width,height,gap} .... label.ulft(textext("\tts 66\%~"), (bs + 27 * u, baseline + 660 * bt + dotsize/2)); Aha, I conclude, trouble with the %-sign! But I think I have seen that error before, originating in one of the Ruby-scripts if I remember well. Having to do with the file parsing and failing on %'s or something like that. Hans Hagen had it fixed then with a patch on a ruby script. Why is this problem now cropping up again? Can this be fixed? Thanks in advance for the trouble this causes. Hans van der Meer
