Creating SVG: using MetaFun, exporting proper units, conversion to DXF

Hi, I want to play with CNC and don't yet have any experience with CAD software (nor the licence for the expensive ones) other than perhaps some Blender, so I decided to try to use the super ugly route with metapost -> svg -> dxf -> g-code for the first time. I have a few questions. (1) I love Hans' shortcuts in metafun, but I seem to remember that things like input metafun; or perhaps input mp-tool; used to work, so that I don't have to remember to use mpost -mem=metafun my-drawings.mp when compiling the graphics. Did the method with "input" ever work (or is it supposed to work)? Now I'm getting a bunch of weird errors. I would love to specify everything in the source file and then just call mpost. If that doesn't work, that's fine, I can still add "-mem=metafun", but ... (2) I guess that using "raw metapost" is the only sane way to generate SVG. If I use metapost inside ConTeXt that's probably not going to work, right? (3) Is there any way to convince the SVG output mode to generate something like <svg ... width="100.0mm" height="100.0mm" ... > rather than <svg ... width="283.46456692913387" height="283.46456692913387" ... > because the program I use to convert SVG to DXF has troubles interpreting "points" properly. I read somewhere that they assume 90 points per inch because that's Inkskape's default. (4) Does anyone have a better proposal for conversion into DXF (or G-code)? I'm currently playing with FreeCAD and I've seen some tutorials showing that AutoCAD can open PDF directly, but I don't want to buy AudoCAD just for the sake of converting files. (Not to mention that FreeCAD's SVG importer crashes when reading output from MetaPost unless I manually remove parts of the SVG, but that's an unrelated problem that I'm somehow able to overcome.) Unicode text conversion

Hello, does ConTeXt contain a built-in Lua conversion routine to convert text in UTF-16 (and others) to UTF-8 string? Opentype features and space after comma in math mode

Hello list, Two questions: 1) How can i enable opentype features (onum, lnum, tnum) in math mode? 2) How can i avoid the space after comma in math mode? mathmatrix and grid: followup

Dear list, some time ago I asked about the interplay of mathmatix with grid typesetting: https://mailman.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2016/087018.html I noticed that when the grid is enabled, the height of a mathmatrix is rounded down which leaves less space above than below. In my opinion either the height should be rounded up or the depth rounded down here. In the original thread Wolfgang proposed using \setupformula[grid=tolerant] and adding a blank line before the formula (otherwise grid=tolerant is applied to the paragraph before). This workaround leads to the depth being rounded down in the example below which produces a more balanced output. Could this somehow be made the default behaviour or something? Currently it requires the user to notice that vertical spacing is off and correct it manually, including adding a blank line before the formula to prevent grid=tolerant being applied to the paragraph. Inline stacking of text

Really simple problem that has had me bashing my head for a while, so I thought that I would reach out and ask for help: I need to create large type title/sub-title combinations in-line. I need the sub-titles to be stacked so that they share the same baseline as the title. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get the baseline alignment to work. Also, I seem to have to add the '\setupwhitespace[-1.0em] to squish the lines together. Is there a better way? Appreciate any guidance. advTHANKSance. \language[is] not working

The Icelandic hyphenation and language settings, though present in the installation (lang-is.lua), don’t seem to work on ConTeXt ver: 2016.05.17 19:20 MKIV current fmt: 2017.3.21 I’ve tried both \language[is] / \language[icelandic] and \mainlanguage[is] but the result is identical to English. Strange behaviour with spacing in itemization using "columns" vs "horizontal".

Hi folks, I noticed a difference in how spacing is set after an itemization. I have the following example: ----------------------------- \starttext \startitemize[packed, joinedup, columns, two] \startitem top left item \stopitem \startitem bottom left item \stopitem \startitem top right item \stopitem \startitem bottom right item \stopitem \stopitemize Notice the size of the blank space? \startitemize[packed, joinedup, horizontal, two] \startitem top left item \stopitem \startitem top right item \stopitem \startitem bottom left item \stopitem \startitem bottom right item \stopitem \stopitemize Notice the size of the blank space? \stoptext --------------------------------- Both itemizations are the same except item order and using "columns" in the first one and "horizontal" in the second. underbar and overbar

Ahoi, I played with the "bar" commands: \underbar{underlined \underbar{more and \underbar{more} \overbar{\underbar{and} \overbar{over}} and back}} While stacking bars is nice, overbar and underbar exclude each other, while underbar takes precedence. Aligning subsection head with following paragraph in tagged pdf output

Hello, I would like to align a subsection heading with the following paragraph. For example: Subsectiontext. The data presented in this section will ... What I get is: Subsection Text The data presented in this section will ... What recipe should be used with the \setupheads command to produce this output?
