Not “better,” but maybe simpler: you can just scale the cdot; if you want to be fancy, you can make a macro and center it vertically, but the basic process would be:

\getglyph{file:xits-math.otf}{\char"00B7}
\space
\getscaledglyph{1.2}{file:xits-math.otf}{\char"00B7}
\space
\getscaledglyph{1.6}{file:xits-math.otf}{\char"00B7}
\space
