Hi, re: http://context.aanhet.net/svn/manuals/context/ I've downloaded all files from the above directory to a separate folder on my PC and am trying to compile the screen version of the english context manual with texmfstart texexec --pdf --mode=screen cont-en.tex Is that the correct command ? I'm receiving compile errors (log file in attachement). Hi,
re: http://context.aanhet.net/svn/manuals/context/
I've downloaded all files from the above directory to a separate folder on my PC and am trying to compile the screen version of the english context manual with
texmfstart texexec --pdf --mode=screen cont-en.tex
Is that the correct command ? I'm receiving compile errors (log file in attachement).
Comment the fourth line in layo-02.tex, as the error message says the command \interfacetranslationtrue is not defined. Regards Wolfgang
Did so Wolfgang. Unfortunately I'm getting other compile errors ( in layo-05.tex this time ). I suspect these sources not being the debugged ones, and/or not everything is provided in http://context.aanhet.net/svn/manuals/context/ to compile them. Speaking of compile errors, where is there a reference explaining the meaning of ConTeXt compile error messages ? The manuals are complete but Hans used many low level code which is now included in the base files with different content or now obsolete and no longer defined. You can see this especially in cont-enp.tex where the code for the x-set-11 module is included in the environment files and it's not possible to process the manual without changes in the files.

Take a book about TeX. - The TeXbook, - TeX by Topic, - TeX for the Impatient, - ... Regards Wolfgang

that part of the style is kind of low level; the interfase stuff is now xml bases so there is no need for dirtuy hacks any more (overloads and such); i have a better version here (will upload it at some point); ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

Wonderful Hans! Because learning a new language through
updated source code examples is so much more pleasant
and efficient.
The presentation of the former mentioned screen manual
is precisely what brought me to switch to ConTeXt and what
I intended to study now how to implement.
Would you please advise when uploaded ?
Thanks on beforehand,
Alan

just look at s-pre-*.tex, one of them is derived from the manual one ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

It was the first I've been directed to and studied Hans. So did that
already.
It compiled, displayed flawlessly and was a good starting point. It lacks
the features of the screen manual though, i.e. the dynamic TOC in the
navigation panel. That's why I wanted to dig further into the related
specific code. However, as it's outdated and doesn't compile any longer
with the latest ConTeXt... it's "rather" tricky - especially when restricted
by time constraints.
Looking forward to the upload.
Best,
Alan
