Hartmut, the checksum doesn't help because I'm using the files which Martin checked in. Is it possible that Martin changed something after the binaries had been created? BTW., the content of the directory Master/texmf/doc/pdftex/manual in the TeXLive repository is from January but I suppose a more recent version of the manual is available.
