Downsampling images (again)

This is lying around for years, let’s try to get it finally working. The code below works, but doesn’t do the right thing. Since the original image doesn’t contain a resolution setting, gm doesn’t do anything: “gm convert: image does not contain resolution” It would be more reliable to use “gm convert -resize”, but for that we need to know the final pixel size. How can a converter function access … – the final (scaled) size of a placed image – the original pixel size of an image ? With that information it would be easy to calculate the target pixel size. (ConTeXt LMTX) (Beginner) how do i set up vertical CJK?

https://pastebin.com/Cg8ZPDVK I have the code listed above and I am wondering how I can get CJK text to be in a vertical form (along with Vietnamese. I know l2r as an option exists in startalignment, but there seems to not be a vertical equivalent for vertical text. How do I achieve this?

Low-level macro help needed

Hello Hans and developers, I have been trying to convert some two- and three-step macros (as shown below) to single-step macros using the LMTX syntax given in the low-level macros manual. I have succeeded in many cases, but failed when the macro follows one particular group of patterns. Lemma in footer - some display issue

Dear CTX users, After many months of procrastination and after discovering Ekdosis for LaTEX, I've dived back into the issues of different levels of footnotes in order to display on the first level the current notes and on the levels below the notes concerning lemmatization. Unfortunately, while I'm quite satisfied with the first page of notes, a strange phenomenon affects the lemmatization notes on the 4th page: the number of the line concerned by the lemma overwrites the last letter of the word in the lemma or in the previous lesson. I can't work out the cause of this problem. Even something like the addition of : \kern0.5em doesn't help. Does anyone have an approach that I haven't intuited? Below a MWE :

making TABLE spacing match tabulate/halign spacing

Greetings, TABLE uses framed extensively to make its cells. it adds all sorts of offsets and paddings (especially vertical) to cells that annoy me greatly. i'd like to set up TABLEs to have the same vertical spacing as a regular tabulate table or even halign, but i keep getting lost in the options for both TABLE and framed. which ones do i need? i'd like it to play nice with interline spacing options as well. creating a printed book

I have created 22 MSword files mainly text with embedded PNG diagrams. I am seeking to have these converted to Context and to redo the (simple) diagrams. I was thinking of using MetaPost. I am seeking to pay a typesetter to assist me in this task. I would be willing to pay for your time or for the time of a colleague you could direct me to. I am seeking to have typeset a book. The MSWord files have already been professionally proof-read, and the subject matter is political economy from the 18th century and how this translates to and may contradict conventional wisdom within the field of modern economics. Other typesetters I have contacted have suggested running pandoc to create a LaTeX file and use Tikz for the diagrams. But I have spent 3 days reading on advancements in the ConText side of the industry which I suspect is far more advanced. I would prefer to use better tools as a longer term solution. Can you advise me? David Roderick.
